A groundbreaking ceremony took place for Jefferson Plaza Apartments in Woodbridge, VA on Wednesday, February 28th. This significant project includes the demolition of an existing inline shopping center to pave the way for the construction of seven garden-style apartment buildings. Utilizing stick framing, these buildings will house a total of 240 units, spanning an estimated 231,807 square feet. This development promises to revitalize the area and provide much-needed affordable housing options for the community.
The property will be restricted to 60% of the Area Medium Income, allowing those who are the backbone of our society – nurses, first responders, firefighters, teachers, and many more – to work and live in the community they serve.
Jefferson Plaza Apartments is in an ideal location, close to I-95, grocery and convenience stores, restaurants, and more. The community will feature a 3,000 square foot club room and co-working space, a fitness center, bike storage, playground and recreational area, direct access to a public park, greenspace and a dog park.
Project completion is anticipated for September of 2026. The Developer is Standard Communities and the Architect is Edward H. Winks – James S Snow, Architects.
