Montgomery County is celebrating a major milestone in its commitment to housing affordability with the opening of Bracken Square, a transformative development located in Silver Spring. This project delivers 98 affordable housing units designed to meet the needs of families and individuals earning between 30% and 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

Bracken Square is the result of strong partnerships with Green Street Housing and TM Associates serving as developers and Miner Feinstein Architects leading the design. Together, these teams have created a modern, functional, and community-focused development that blends affordability with quality design.
The property offers a mix of 28 one-bedroom, 55 two-bedroom, and 15 three-bedroom apartments. Residents will enjoy amenities such as in-unit washer/dryer, granite countertops, vinyl plank flooring, and a secured podium parking garage. Its location is transit-friendly, with easy access to the Purple Line, MARC station, and Ride On bus routes, making commuting and connectivity convenient for residents.

Bracken Square was made possible through a combination of funding sources, including support from Montgomery County’s Housing Initiative Fund, federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), and state programs. County Executive, Marc Elrich, emphasized that projects like Bracken Square are critical to addressing housing challenges and building inclusive communities.
Affordable housing is more than just a place to live, it’s a foundation for opportunity. Bracken Square ensures that residents have access to jobs, transportation, and essential services, strengthening the social and economic fabric of Silver Spring. This development stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when government, developers, and architects work together toward a shared vision. With 98 new affordable units, Montgomery County is building not just homes, but a stronger, more inclusive future.
